Australian Career

Stone played his junior football for Adamstown before playing for Western Suburbs in the New South Wales state league (1973–1976) and the National Soccer League (1977).
In 1978, he moved to APIA Leichhardt, where he played three NSL seasons. Stone moved to St. George in 1980 where he played two seasons as Captain.

International Career

Stone won the first of his 15 caps as the Australian midfield under Jimmy Shoulder in 1976. His international debut for Australia in 1976 was against Hong Kong. He also played in England for Tottenham Hotspur.

ABOUT PETER

With the family moving from Brisbane to Newcastle in the early 1960s, Peter’s love for soccer began in Newcastle at the age of 9. Peter played his junior football for Kotara South and Adamstown Rosebuds, before playing senior football, initially for Adamstown Rosebuds and then for a number of Sydney-based clubs as a midfielder.
